Darkness
Darkness
There sits a boy, in pitch black and dark
Colors swiveling inside but lost inside his heart
A secret so near, so dear, he fears
That speaking word would end in tears
So he writes in words and rhyme to peers
That he could just let the color appear
They read it down and read it twice
But it makes no sense and within he fights
He would raise his voice and shout “I’m gay!”
They simply shrug and laugh and say “ok”
That there’s nothing wrong, no need to fear
For we have a bond we’re always here
But still he stood and walked with fright
As he takes a breathe with all his might
Takes the phone, he starts to dial
“Hey Dad, it’s been a while”
I just don’t really know what you will say
But, daddy listen your son is gay
And shrugs and laughs and says “ok”
That nothing could ever intrude the way
For the love he has for his son will always stay
And he starts to relax with ease
Happy to see
That his beloved are accepting of he
His brothers get mad
Because he didn’t tell them first
At least it’s for the better
Now he doesn’t see the worst
The darkness turns to light
And the colors then release
Until the dreaded day that his mother heard the piece
She shook her head in anguish
So distracted and distraught
That her son is one of god and not this devil he hath brought
And the darkness swiftly comes
The colors burn to ashes
For his mother would not see
Her son a “victim” to the masses
A child bearing spirit, a lover of the womb
A man of Christian setting and of Christian thoughts and ways
Never could she fathom a child of her a “deviled” gay
But she fought with all her might, and she slowly leaked her love
That her son is still her son and she will not hate, rise above
She embraced her son real tight
After what seemed to be like years
That no matter what he chose
He will be accepted as he speaks and she would wipe his tears
The darkness fully faded, the colors shining bright
So speak up, live true, be happy
And never give up the fight!
