darkness

the darkness,

dragging me down,

pulling me under

i am drowning

the light,

desperate to get through to me,

but it's no use

i am drowning

cold, black water fills my lungs

i am drifting away

suddenly, i feel you beside me

i feel safe in the cage of your arms

i feel safe as we sink deeper

i feel safe

and then you let me go
