In the Darkness
The monsters underneath my bed
Are the terrors inside my head.
Shadow to shadow slinks my fears
The flaws that found my raining tears.
Hanging like fog, the oppressive doubt
About the virtues that I tout.
Uncertainty, behind the door,
Dulls the bright dreams that I live for.
In the wardrobe lurks despair.
I keep it locked away in there.
My pride, my hate, my jealousy
All hide behind my vanity.
And the dark mirror shows to me
The person that I choose to be.
In the darkness, in the deep cold
I fight them lest they take their hold.
