Under all that I am someone no one sees

I relive memories as if they are current

Not good memories but the terrifying ones you try to escape

I can’t escape even in sleep

The thoughts still follow

I sit in a room and cry for hours

Wishing someone could possibly understand

Under that selfie is a world unknown

You may know my Instagram name but you don’t know my story

The hurdles I have had to jump over

The things that tried to break me and sometimes did

Would you see all that in my selfie

Of course not

Why

Because I have a beautiful fake smile

And those filters cover more than just uneven skin tone

I fool all the fools

I can pretend in the picture

But after the flash I am still a broken unfiltered girl
