Darkness Before Dawn

Lately the world has been a dark place;

Both God and Science shake their heads in disgrace.

Though if God were real, would he create

A world so filled with pain and hate?

They say the Devil brings these to our world;

But we, the people, allow suffering to unfurl.

I wonder, if we were truly free,

Would we live in such misery?

We are trapped in this world by our own anger;

Putting ourselves and each other in danger.

If we could learn to get along together,

The sun could shine through this torrential weather;

But, I fear this day shall never arrive

As long as hatred is allowed to thrive.

As long as there’s darkness we must endure,

A peaceful existence cannot be ensured.

When this is a concept we can understand,

Maybe then we can live hand-in-hand.
