Darkness in Light

I am the kind of girl who sees light in the darkness

I give second chances though I’ve been hurt before

I see kindness not hatred

In the worst kind of way

My future hides behind a corner, ready to pounce

But I will not conform

A flame blows out and I light a match

Because I am a girl who sees light in the darkness

I’m the kind of girl who sees darkness in the light

I can be happy and carefree

But in an instant, the flame flickers out

I’m plunged into the darkness and lost in anger

A kind gesture could be perceived as pity

And compliment could be thought of as a joke

My innermost thoughts haunt me

My past cries out for attention, but I cannot give in

I’m the kind of girl who sees darkness in the light.
