Darkness to light

As a little girl you sit and think about how great your parents are

This little girl never got her chance to think of her mom as a star

She was given no option but to live in a group home

All the while her mom didn’t care that she’d be alone

Because I love you I’m giving you away

These words stick with her until this very day

In the beginning they were very hard to understand

How could she leave her to deal with that man

Stealing her innocence, leaving her damned

She could never get rid of that sin

Then one day came a mom she could call her own

Because I love you I’m giving you a home

No longer would she have to share her clothes

No longer would she have to sleep in fear

Of waking up with a face full of tears

The nightmares would slowly go away

And she’d see that this mom was here to stay

Because I love you I gave you a new life

One that wouldn’t deprive

You of the things you need to survive

Because I love you I'll always be there
