Darkness of the Soul

My life, my soul, the inner beast inside of me

Clawing, scratching, growling at the cage I've put him in

Lying in wait, hoping to escape, only seeing what I can see

Here in my chest the darkest demon dwells within

Trying to take over with the immoral messages that they send

Images of death by my hands make me want to weep

This beast doesn't even compare to the wickedest of men

Haunting my thoughts in the day, and at night while I sleep

Like the ominous clouds in my soul, ever closer they creep

Running from the malevolent madness that will await

Crying out in fear and agony I take one final leap

Only to find my ultimate escape is now a closed gate

Knowing the day this evil demon will die

Forever I will stay trapped in the madness until my final goodbye
