The Darkness through The Light

The Darkness through the Light
 By: Euribiades Cerrud III

A world of happiness they say
 A world of pleasure
Yet I find people in dismay
 Too much to measure

On a colony called Lux
One that orbits around a planet
The average man wears a Tux
 But what about his tenant?

On the higher levels, life is a party
A place of bliss and high stakes
On the lower levels, life is a disease, all warty
A place of misery and mistakes

A place of slavery that we cannot see
A place where anyone can be happy
Except for those who can’t be free
All these men who own them, all of them sappy

A gilded place, one of excitement
Until you enter, then your feeling decays
You witness the pain, the indictment
You were expecting a star, but notice not a single ray

Yet they shout
 “The happiest place in space!”
Then they neglect to call out
“Only if you learn your place”

And yet they carry on,
 All with nearsight
All of their humanity gone
Because of The Darkness through The Light
