The Dating Pool of a Transgender Boy

It’s hard to date, as a trans guy.

You’ve either got the wrong thing in your head,

Or the wrong thing in between your legs.

Catastrophe strikes sooner or later.

The boys I like all end up straight,

But it’s nice when they act like it’s okay.

There’s a boy now,

He makes my heart flutter.

But he cuts through me like a knife through butter.

He’s straight.

No, he’s not meant for me.

If only he could look and see.

If only I were good at lying.

“I’m your girl,” I’d say,

Even if it weren’t the case.

Sometimes I have to ask myself:

What do I value more than the other?

Being in love or being a brother?

Yes, it’s tough.

But someday it’ll be fine.

I’ll fall for him,

And he’ll (want to) be mine.
