Daughter
Although dreams are dreams,
The nightmares remain real,
Tossing, turning, sweating,
Bullets ripping through my flesh,
I am on fire, my eyeballs are melting,
Hell is real, I will be forgotten once dead,
The sky collapses on top of me,
Burying me alive, wake up,
Wake up you idiot, it is not real,
I am at my own funeral, just my casket,
No loved ones, no friends, no one,
I am dead but my coffin is being shaken,
What the fuck, I am dead, gone,
More shaking, a small voice,
“Daddy, daddy, wake up, daddy,”
Sky had a bad dream, she needs me,
I am here, alive, and needed,
Even if only temporarily, I am loved.
