To Daughter: Because I Love You

Because I love you

I promise to protect you

Because I love you

Your tiny hands will always have mine to hold

Because I love you

The monsters under the bed won't be scary

Because I love you

I wish you knew your beauty

Because I love you

You should set your standards high

Because I love you

I know that boy is not your perfect guy

Because I love you

I hate it when you cry

Because I love you

I wipe away your tears

Because I love you

I have this fear

That because I love you

you'll push me away

That because I love you

I won't find the words to say

If because I love you

You don't want life to move slow

But because I love you

I have to let you go
