The Dawning of New Light

A new light is dawning

Spilling golden rays over the horizon

Yeah

You’ve had some trouble

A season where

You’ve seemed to stumble

Hindered by circumstance

Clouded by doubt

Mistreated by friends

Left with no trace of hope

In your land

I won’t lie

The last six months

Have been rough

Putting it lightly

Doesn't diminish the frightening

Struggles with people

And internal battles

Moments when

My only thought was why

Why is this my lot

What have I done

That makes me a target

Like a bullseye

Pointed at with a gun

Having your friends

Turn and gnash their teeth

Is a painful place

To wake in

Knowing you still need grace

But how much grace

Is there to waste

How long do you overlook

Chunks of your flesh being took

When fifty pounds of your soul

Suddenly goes missing

Do you just go on believing

That goodness still exists

Or do you just say

Screw it

Give up on humanity

Just to keep a tiny bit of sanity

In the end

For me

I choose to say

Even though my faith in people

May sway

I know without a doubt

There is One Who is good

Who never has a drought

He’s never given up on me

Lord You know

There’ve been plenty of possibilities

But You’ve stuck with me

And so I stick with You

Trusting also

There is goodness in Your people

Like I said

A new light is dawning

Although people in my life

Ay shift and change places

God You have a greater yes

Leaning against the wall

Just up ahead

I’ve just gotta keep walking

So my feet carry me onward

Even if my soul becomes threadbare

I may be frayed

By the end of the day

But I will make it

To be able to say

I may have been

Stretched and strained

But I still followed

The entire way
