That Day
You left me without a single note,
Not even a clue that could lead me back to you,
And when you walked out that door,
My heart died.
My heart,
It fell to the ground and broke,
As the door locked behind you
Shattering to 1,000 pieces.
Pieces I could never put back in place.
I don’t know why you left,
Or why you felt you had to.
I loved you with every ounce I could give
I thought we would be together, always
But that ended…that day.
That day was dark
It was gloomy and cold
My body began to shake when I saw my heart spread across the floor
I knew at that second,
The pain and ache would never stop.
It still hasn’t.
Day by day, as time goes on,
I still can’t figure out what was wrong,
Or why you left.
I try to forget that day and all its hurt,
But then the piercing pieces of my broken heart bring back the memory,
The memory of that day.
The day that you left me,
The day you never came back to me,
The day you broke me,
That day…
