This Day, This Age

In this day and age,

teens worry more about their likes on Instagram,

while an American Classic’s pages are sitting untouched and yellow.

Who cares about the score on an exam

when you have twelve hundred fellow social media addicts following you.

But why cover yourself when you can show off the real you?

Why filter the essence we all once knew.

Without make-up and done up hair or filters,

You can see the blemishes that freckle my face.

But who cares about the people on Twitter

people you’ll never actually meet.

I am authentic.

But go ahead and talk about me in your tweets.

Someday, we’ll see who gets to the top.
