Day care

The caretaker instinct:

I was born with a strong one

I wanted to feed my baby brother a bottle

I always played house

I changed my first diaper at 7 years old

But nothing was wrong with that

But.

My parents watched my cousins for a daycare

And after a few years my mom didn't leave her room much

So I was the responsible one; for six children

I was the only one changing diapers

I prepared the food

I made sure they all made it through the day alive

And I felt like suddenly--I was the responsible one

I was still a kid

That wasn't taken from me

But I was the kid responsible for six others

That changed me
