Day-in, Day-out

Footsteps on gravel.

Wind slightly nips.

Sweet morning air.

Rain-drops on your face.

The crack of fire,

of lightning and thunder.

Vibrations of anger

reaching deep into bones.

The peace in a hug,

The aching of love.

Stop. Listen. Breathe.

Little hands and fingers,

Sticky with love, reaching

For your heart.

Brown eyes sparkling

Blue eyes laughing

Curly blonde hair

Bouncing in the breeze

And ruddy faces

Swiped with mud.

Pause. Look. Breathe.

Wanderlust beckons,

Commitment restrains;

Search for adventure in the mundane;

In minute moments,

turn lakes into seas,

Or trees into forests,

'You and I' into 'We's';

For challenge is hidden

where none thought it lie.

Your life is a story,

but you've closed your eyes.
