The Day He Left

I didn’t know how it started, or when

All I know it began with paper and pen

I started the day the world became black

When cancer decided to come back.

I knew he was tough and would make it

Until they said it spread and his time was spent

We tried to stay strong

However, the doctors said it wouldn’t be long.

The day he left, was the day I started

The day that me and my best friend parted

I never considered myself a writer

All I know is it made my world brighter.
