The Day I Am Free

Dear Mental Demons,

Life is going to feel like paradise

On a day that I can not soon foresee

Once I am able to escape this vice

It will then feel like I am flying free.

The clouds will open and the sun will shine

Once I can escape what is drowning me.

My ankles have been tied by a great vine,

Sprouting from the thoughts that consume each day

Unable to move in even a line.

With each passing moment I work to slay

The mental beast that has taken my mind

So that I can soon live one peaceful day.

I hope that I can soon say I can find

A way to break these invisible chains

So that I can feel like I'm not confined.

One day soon I know that I will have slain

The struggles of my life, I can now reign.

Sincerely,
The Girl Who Will Flourish
