The Day I Broke Free

Trapped. It smothers me. Suffocates me. A rusty, metal cell of misery, confining me, restricting my every move, tying my hands, if I'll allow it. Manipulated. It enchants me. Entices me. I'll be another cold, hard, marble pawn in their game of lies, greed, and gain, if I give up. Insecure. It dictates me. Defines me. A deep, addicting pit of bitter muck and mire that eats away at me, stripping me of my identity, piece by piece, if I'll let it. Ignorant. It shields me. Screens me. A robber concealed by the cool, nipping wind of the night is this starved, roaring mother inside of me. It will devour me, with my agreement. Hopeful. He's cheered me. He's changed me. A thin, shimmering ray of light through the dark puffy clouds; a whiff of lavender on the wind. She says there's a way out, and I'll find it.
