The Day I Grew Up

I remeber the time, that bright summer day

When you became mine, for here and to stay.

I needed you, daddy, but our distance remained bold.

Without the strength to breach it, our hearts grew cold.

But on that day, I recieved your gift.

Opening it causiously, my world did shift.

It enveloped me, those words of love.

My pride melted as it recieved a shove.

On that day, we made amends

And left behind pain, becoming friends.

That day I grew up, a woman now.

I didn't think I would, but you showed how.
