The day I realized I lost my innocence.

The days of far-off youth, gone like leaves in a breeze,

this may sound cliche, its true, so if you please,

allow me to reprise, for you are in for quite the suprise.

The day I lost my innocence,

ha, as if it was only a day.

Was it the time a peer told me about their experience with drug usage,

or the time I saw someone cry due to parental verbal abusage?

Was it the day I got a text saying that my friend was probably dead,

and I saw the scars from which they had bled?

Was it the day that I almost stepped in front of a car,

when my terrible thoughts finally went too far?

The day I struck a man with vengeance in my heart,

or the day I saw a dear friend depart?

Truth be told, dear reader, I simply havent a clue.

The loss on innocence shall creep silently upon you.

One day you shalt look upon the world, and what will you see?

Nothing, nothing, but the terrible sea.

The loss of life as many struggle beneath the waves,

those that sink being those that cave.

What will you do, dear reader, when all hope is lost,

will you let your apathy reap a terrible cost?

I have not given up hope for us yet,

I do not believe life owes me a most terrible debt.

I have lost my youth, my vigor, my innocence, tis true,

but I will never let those waves overtake me, those waves of blue.

My loss was a new chapter, a turn of a new page,

for life is a battle, a war we must wage,

I ask you, dear reader, do not lose hope,

for I have seen what lies in the loop of that rope.
