A Day in the Life...

A Day in the Life… In the morning, I drowsily awake to the sound of my alarm clock blaring, buzzing, and beeping. I rise from the fluffy, feathery comfort of my pillow and get ready for school, sluggishly sliding to the closet and slipping into my usual - stifling a yawn in the process. Hopping into my socks and shoes, struggling to make them fit, I groom my gracious hair in the bathroom and trudge towards the kitchen – munching on some toast. I check my watch; it’s almost time to go… I grab my backpack and review the contents certain nothing’s forgotten and heist it over my shoulder, out the door. On the bus, kids havin’ fun, whoopin, hollerin’; taking life for granted. At school, classes are a bore, teachers talking, saying nothing more in one ear and out the other it goes …blah, blah-blah, blah-blah. At lunch socializing with my sistas’, talkin' bout random stuff. Only to find myself back in class; but it’s only for a little while. The final bell…I’m home free. School has ended yet another day, only to be opened again tomorrow with welcoming arms that nobody will want. The bus draws to a stop in front of my house. I trudge home and plop down on my withered, yet welcoming bed where sleep quickly greets me, and prepares me for the days that lie ahead.
