Day in the Life

Step One: Get out of bed

The hardest part of the morning, for reasons of not

the night was rough, the morning tough

but through the window the sun glows soft

it continues day after day

so why stay aloft?

Step Two: Put on your nicest shirt and your biggest smile

The appearences must be maintained you can't let them see

the struggle of silence, the words unwritten, but conformity is

in the outfit, in the smile, the land of his and hers, all the same

the differents never were.

Step Three: Fly through the school day

Test one block quiz the next

the teachers really try to break our necks

drowning in work, with no time to sleep

the books are all I know the texts all I speak

Step Four: Track

Quiting's for losers, stopping for wimps

run faster try harder

sprint further jump farther

Running clears the mind they say thats so

it also fills the bones with pain like jello

Step Five: Work

Never stop the smile

it conceals your thoughts

the customers always right

even when their not

The lady who hated the line

The man who argued the price

The kid who needed change

No smiles or thankyous needed

Just remember to wipe your feet,

Cuz apparently I'm a doormat

Step Six: Homework

They say your can't read through closed eyelids

but the challenge is really in the past

every night I fall asleep

my blanket of books

my warm cup of tea.

Slowly but surely work gets done

through closed eyelids and moving hands

the tired brains answers

Step Seven: Bedtime

Then its time to turn out the lights

the thoughts flood in

the tears stream down

who doesn't like a good night cry?

The stress and pressure

perfectionism at its best

they say don't dwell in the past

the names once called

the fights one had

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger?

Lies.

What makes you stronger doesn't kill you.

Turn out the lights, five hours till the song repeats
