Day of the Summer Night

I miss those summer nights

When the sunlight forgets to go home

It lingers in darkness

Extended dusk we roam

A night was like a new day

For just three months of the year

The window rolled down

Friends forever near

A nocturnal wind

Brings an air of pleasure

Possibility is present

The stars are its measure

For the night is young

And conversation is old

Like a well known tale

That keeps getting told

I miss those summer nights

When the sunlight forgets to go home

When the moon has company

And no one is alone
