A day at work

It’s the same job every day,

I am working in the grain fields alone.

I have a family

I must think about them first

I need to rest

But I can’t stop now

I need to go on until the sun disappears and darkness covers the field.

I must get rid of all the weeds

Or I won’t be able to feed the children.

Evening has come.

The sky began to vanish behind a dark cloud of mist

Drizzle started to fall into my face

But I can’t stop now

I must think about the people who need me.

I must keep working until the field is all clean

If I don’t, the people will starve.

No, I can’t let that happen.

I have to make sure I do my job the right way.

The rain stopped.

It was already night.

I will be leaving for home soon.

My hands, my back, my legs hurt so much.

But I can’t stop now

I still have a few more spots left undone

I must continue until every bit of the field is sparking with nothing but grains.

I found myself staring at the huge meadow.

It looked like an ocean with no ending.

But it was still beautiful.

I will return home now and come back tomorrow,

To work on the next field of grain.go here)
