The Day You Left

There are no colors in this stagnant world,

Whitewashed and dreary, torn, shredded, and curled

Not since the day you went away.

Never to return, no chance of another day

Where we could spend our free time together,

Regardless of the dismal, wet rainy weather.

Now, whenever I see those collected droplets

My heart aches; why not just end me and put me to rest?

You broke my heart in ways no other could,

Just by straying from my side like I though you never would.

You left me to fall apart,

Not carrying what would happen to my fragile heart.

Even after I begged for you to stay,

You hugged me and walked away.

You walked down that rocky dirt track

And you never looked back.

Minutes turned to hours passed on to days skipped to years

And even after what you did, I still held you dear.

Close to my heart, yet not to my soul

Simply because you left me like a marionette doll.

I can honestly say that the day you left

I couldn’t withhold it, I wept, wept, and wept.
