Daydream

Though the skies are clouded, Your face could brighten anything, If only it were around. When all voices had gone silent, A single smile of yours would fix, Back when you were around. As I cried at life's cruelty, Your arms never failed to surround me, While they still could. Now that your smiles have vanished, Your arms as absent as my confidence, I carry your images like a weight. Daydreaming of things I could say to you, Moments we can never share, And the haunting smile I'll never forget. Tormenting me with the support you gave, My mind refuses to relent, Reminding me of your wise words. A cursed daydream reappearing, Any night or day you appearing, And the smallest pieces of me falling apart. Alive to wonder why you can't be, I'm fated to forever see your face, And slowly accept the truth of life. Eventually closing my eyes to see you, Smiling and reminding me of grace and joy, I slip into my delusional reality. A daydream that causes me pain, That brings back the only natural affections, And reminds me of who I am...
