Days Go By

Days go by, at a time,

That she feels so alone.

That she wants to change her real self.

To hide herself, again, away.

Behind closed walls.

When she can feel her heart darken,

To be blacker than the night.

When she can just barely hear,

The screams of her lost soul.

Days that she lets the darkness take a hold on her.

Days that she prays to the moon for the light,

Because she does not trust the sun, to rescue her.

Days when she prays to the stars,

To show her the way in the dark.

Because she does not believe that another will come to rescue her.

Days go by, at a time,

That she feels so cold.

When she can stop and listen

To her own soul freezing over,

Crystal by frozen crystal.

And when she can heat its cries of pain.

Days will go by,

When all she can hear are the voices of her past.

And, though she tries to ignore them,

They haunt her very dreams.

When she prays at night,

For guidance along her way.

When she prays to the Goddess Luna,

Because no one else will hear her pain.

And so, the days will go by.
