Days of My Weak
Days of My Weak
Among the clouds are stars.
But to me their tears from broken hearts.
Faces with no name, that play this tedious game.
Whoever wins, no one will ever know.
Then why is it so hard to just let go.
Let go of the past.
What we once had.
You’re the good guy who acts bad.
Me… I’m just here for the moment.
Today I’m in love.
Tomorrow I’m a star.
But Wednesdays the only time I’ll open my scars.
I’ll let you poke out my heart.
But only on Wednesday.
Those days we can escape, and pretend that we love each other.
But on Thursday we don’t know one another.
And I’m left alone again.
With all the demons in my head.
Who threaten to takeover.
Even when I’m sober, I’m high among the clouds.
But my feet stay planted along the ground.
Who can save me now?
As the demons threaten to wage war, I sip my chamomile tea.
And wonder what life could be.
As the demons’ bark and nip at my feet.
I sit and think, sipping my chamomile tea.
And I know this is my normal week.
And as Friday unravels
I numbly rise from the kitchen table, feeling mentally estranged and physically deranged.
But this is my normal.
On Wednesday I’m in love.
On Thursday were strangers in a perfect world.
On Friday the demons take over my soul.
And they won’t let go…
Till next Wednesday.
