Days Upon Days

Today used to be someday

And today will soon be yesterday.

All these days

we wish away

all those we hope for;

we hope for another day.

Why do we do this?

Many reasons contribute to it.

We always want what is next,

and today only falls second best,

to what the future may possess.

But one day,

you'll realize,

that the someday you've always hoped for

isn't just distantly near;

but rather, already here.

You'll wake up

and wish for all those todays

that are now yesterdays.

And you'll wish that today,

which was once, someday,

would slow down

and that all those days

you longed to go away

could be relived and enjoyed

rather than wishing for something

in order for reality to be avoided.
