Dazzling Moments
Running through the rain under the gloomy, daunting sky.
Swiftly gliding through the air on the outside swing, encircled by the colorful mountains— challenges for another day.
Aching muscles, tensed with the sensation of accomplishment and strength.
Sinking into fresh snow, too content to feel cold.
A calm morning out on the water, elevated by the support of my eight teammates.
Rolling out pasta for ravioli with ricotta filling with my sisters.
Dripping vibrant batter into cupcake forms for a tie dye cupcake sale— supporting the tuition of a girl's secondary education.
Sipping hot "kinderpunsch", surrounded by the warm glow of the Weihnachtsmarkts.
Skiing with cousins, humbled by the breathtaking beauty of La Cordillera de los Andes.
Sitting front and center in Council, holding the gavel, trusted and respected.
Priding myself in the great passion I have for each task I take on.
The cello vibrating smoothly in the grip of my hands as its deep sonorous sound fills the room.
Sinking into a long awaited book.
Lying surrounded by the soft fur of Schatzi and Chico, rubbing their ears while their tails swing.
Laughing until my abdominal muscles burn with my best friends as if no time has passed.
Holding open the door for the person behind me.
Writing letters, curled up with a cup of chai tea.
Mama reassuring me, "El que nada sabe, nada teme"— the more you know, the more you worry.
Enjoying chicken tarkari, medium spiciness, after a long night serving it.
The warmth of my parent's bed, crawling in for a family hug.
Clearing thoughts in meditation at the end of the day.
Happiness is defined by each of us in a different and unique way.
Yet we strive for it as an end goal, failing to recognize the little dazzling moments in each day.
The moments that bring a smile across my face in sum, make up the identity I create for myself with each breath I take.
