Deadline

A wondrous wealth of information
pours from my bright computer screen
as I sit in boredom and starvation
I’m tired as fuck, and I want to scream.

To distract my poor tired mind
I flee to cartoons of old
and yet still, somehow, I find
that schoolwork has me in a tight hold.

So goodbye to Netflix, Hulu, et al.,
hello to the blank white of word.
For, already, my patience is small
and another all-nighter would be absurd.

Funny that a single swipe of a finger
can extinguish such a beautiful light!
But I cannot let my mind linger,
for I still have 5 pages to write.
