Deafening

Hushed within myself the instrumental softly incurred.

Surrounding me an orchestra; bowing its language, as if I overheard.

I contemplate thoroughly beyond the intoxicating melody,

To open my eyes upon the awaiting, suffocating harmony.

But as my eyelids open and the tone had grown.

The melody had taken a turn, as I learned, I am alone.

Out of my sight, strictly in my mind.

My pupils dilated with the intensity of the rhapsody I couldn’t find.

Hastily searching all around, for this must be a mistake.

Astounded by the unfounded sound, I must not be awake.

How the pitch itched inside my ears pushing out my vocal chords a cry.

The refrain drained me to my knees, pleading please; I couldn’t defy.

Violins, cellos, bass, piano; they pierce against my temple.

Crammed inside, the pizzicato pried; a classical battle.

The broken off bow strings intertwined the spaces between my brain.

The strings thrust off the piano; penetrate and pulse inside my vines.

My mind being pulled further away from morality,

As the cords separated musicality from reality.

Beating beats against my skull immensely deflecting off each wall.

Welcoming the destructive winsomeness, surely I will fall.

I will fall into the new sanity I have unconsciously created.

I awaited the shattering clash that dictated, but it seems it faded.

Hushed within myself the instrumental softly incurred.

Surrounding me an orchestra; bowing its language, as if I overheard.
