Deal with the Demon

Nothing was right

Nothing was real

I had a bag in my pocket

And something to deal

A soul to steal

But first in mind

A heart to reveal

I had common sense mixed with a little bit of pain

I had everything to lose and nothing to gain

The soul goes in my pocket

My heart’s on my sleeve

If nothing else goes wrong

I’ll have everything to achieve

But everything to lose…

And nothing to gain

It’s a time train

And the engine is your brain

It’s running along

So fast and so strong

If the tracks always end

Then why are they so long?

The spirit runs deep

Neither inviting nor kind

And inhabits my whole being

Controlled by my mind

It’s the end of the line.
