Dealing with Hate

Malice, malevolence, meaningless hate,

You contaminate, corrupt, cripple this world.

You have scratched, scraped, swooped and swirled

All that is good and all that is great.

Indeed you do not create,

You only harm, hinder and hurl

In this desolate, destructive world.

But yet I stand strong with even your weight.

Because I have poetry, my mellifluous crown

That defends me from the evils that lurk.

It is a constant force upward in a world bearing down.

Indeed these words have always been the spark

I needed to create a world of my own,

Marooned from malice, devoid of the dark.
