Dear...
Dear Silence,
Silence,
You are deadening
Frightening
And also a fear
Silence,
You are an entity that we can sense
You echo through our bodies
And chills us to the bone
You make us fear something greater
We fight our hardest to avoid you
We do anything to never have to face you
We fill our lives with meaningless noise
If it means escaping your grasp
.
However,
I found a loophole for you
Something that connects us
Being silent is different than you
Remaining speechless, unheard, and quiet
It’s something we barely ever accomplish
We constantly speak our opinions
If it means filling the void
and avoiding you
We say meaningless words and phrases
No one pays attention to or listens to
But, we feel heard
Because we're simply stating it
Even if it is out in emptiness
We feel heard, and you
The silence
fear is gone
Silence,
You are considered to be one of the scariest of sounds
because you the absence of sound itself
You are what we hear
when we’re alone
Or what we miss and long for
When there's no one for us to be with
After all,
You're the only friend we have sometimes
You're there when we're by ourselves
You're the sign no one else is there
That we are alone
They say those who remain silent do it as a choice
They choose to let their opinions fall right into the shadows
And never have them heard
They keep the sound trapped
and captive in their mind
Have their thoughts bottled
And audible only for them
They remain silent because they learned
They learned that you
Silence
You are the best company one can have
Because that’s when we finally have peace
Peace of mind
