Dear 2017

Dear 2017,

You are finally almost over

You started out young and naive in January

Believing in all you could accomplish

For five weeks we endured

Trying to recover from the revelry and spending of the holidays

Then came the month of love

Where couples celebrated, and all others tried to fade into the snow

Then Easter, and with it the scent of a spring and all things new

After it came April when flowers bloomed, and leaves turned green

And memes to get a beach body in time for summer started rolling out.

Graduation season was next, with its confusion and toil

With some having to say goodbye to their past lives and hello to a new strange one

And all the tears that came after that

Onwards to June, which was the official start of summer and its accompanying heat

And before we knew it we were halfway done with you.

Dear 2017,

You are practically over now,

You were like a teenager by July,

Cranky and with an attitude, wanting to be grown up but not quite yet

For five weeks we endured, again

Trying to survive the heat you brought, and the bills for the A.C.

We entered August hoping for better,

No such luck, so we began to write this letter

We slid quietly into September,

Feeling like zombies and praying for your end

Then October, where we could dress as anyone we wanted to be

Some chose witches, some chose fairies, and some chose superheroes

We got to become anyone, and it was a freeing experience

We entered the month of gratitude and food and family

We gave thanks and prepared for December

We are finally done with you, 2017

Thank you for your patience and care

Try not to forget us for we will not forget you

Goodbye

Yours Sincerely,

Us
