Dear 2018

Dear 2018,

I’ve counted the days, hours, minutes, and seconds

For you to finally arrive

As you’re the year

That is supposed to change my life

Although I once lived with fear

Your beginnings gave me a reason to want to thrive

Because you’re a refreshing clean palette

That has allowed me to repaint my messy life

Your friend 2017 didn’t do me too well

But that doesn’t mean you won’t

2016, 2015, and 2014 gave me hell

But you don’t.

Everyday, I strive to be my best,

So I can make the best out of you

My life may be a mess,

But you give me so many opportunities to look forward to

Although I’ve already had some downfalls,

You’ve given me motivation and strength

To climb endless walls

You are MY year

And that motto itself,

Has given taken away my fears

I have more strength and motivation than ever before

So 2018,

You’re about to hear this lion roar

Your Best Friend,

Melissa
