Dear 9 year old me,
Dear 9 year old me,
Now, I know what you're thinking,
‘Who are you?’
Let me just say, I'm not here to hurt you.
I'm not here to scare you.
I'm here to tell you the truth,
to show you what you'll become.
Some things are going to happen, it's gonna be confusing for a little while.
When you turn 11, mom is going to leave.
I know , I know but don't panic.
It's not your fault.
It's important that you know, she didn't leave you.
Don't listen to them, none of them.
Whatever they say, block it out.
That year, you're also going to get a stepmom.
Be kind to her, she's not trying to take mom's place.
When you're 12, a few things will happen.
You'll meet someone who becomes a big part of your life,
you’ll hit puberty - which won't be good to you,
you'll move to a house where some of the best memories are made,
you'll meet one of your best friends,
some days will be a little hard, but trust me when I say that you are strong enough to handle them.
At 13, mom will come back.
It'll be confusing and you'll want to be angry and push her away but don't,
It's crucial that you remember she didn't leave you.
That none of it was your fault and in all honesty, it really didn't have anything to do with you.
Someone close to you will pass away.
It'll seem like the worst thing ever but it isn't,
the pain doesn't last forever, I promise..
At 14, You’ll meet a boy who’ll make you crazy,
he will tell you everything you wanna hear,
you’ll spend all your time thinking about him.
You'll have your doubts,
there will ‘signs’.
Trust yourself, trust those instincts.
15 won't be any easier, sorry to tell you.
This year will tear you apart.
Please please please, listen to yourself.
I don't know how bad I can stress this.
I can't tell you everything but what I can do is tell you that not everyone deserves forgiveness, you are precious and anyone who doesn't treat you as though
should not have a place in your life.
Some people are just meant to stay in your heart rather than
your life.
It gets a little better at 16, I swear.
Im proud of the changes made.
Just remember that your friends love you and its important that you show them that you love them too.
17 is a good one, probably the best one.
You fix things with your mom, for good.
You learn to appreciate everything and
You become so much closer to your friends,
You'll lose a few but they will be replaced by even better ones.
Just remember,
you are strong enough to handle it.
Now, sometimes life will be too hard.
You feel like the world's gonna fall apart, I know.
I'm so so sorry I didn't take better care of you,
I feel awful.
I should have treated you better,
I should have been nicer to you,
honest with you,
loved you.
All I can really ask for is your forgiveness.
