Dear America

Dear America,

Thou art said to be strong, humble, and free

Yet, you often persecute people like me.

We are often called thugs  and referred to as “hood-rats,”

But, we are rarely ever told that to be young, gifted and black is where it’s at.

To be treated like crap for thousands of years is truly the one thing that puts this nation to shame,

And I can’t help but say it, truly you all are the ones to blame.

Perhaps if you were to look back and not see where you’ve been but were you ought to be,

We could all come together and live in perfect harmony.

For, it is only by seeing the situation from another man’s retina

That we can easily remove the nebula.

So come, let us finally come to realize

It is only through solidarity and understanding that America can truly be great.
