Dear Anxiety

Dear Anxiety,

You always seem to find yourself in my head

I can’t keep up with you, I hate this feeling of dread

You keep my hands sweaty and my stomach feeling funny

When the cashier lady looks at me I even struggle to give her my money

My cheeks heat up and my hands start to shake

There’s another class presentation, I can’t get a break

I lie awake at night, I can’t stop thinking

These thoughts are drowning me, I might be sinking

You take away my confidence, I hate being this way

I can’t get away from you, not even for a day

You make my throat close up and my eyes water

My parents don’t understand me, I’m such a useless daughter

You make me second guess myself

Look at that girl, she can’t even help herself

One day, you won’t have this control over me

I can’t wait to finally be free

Truly yours,
