Dear Anxiety

Dear Anxiety,

You have been a haunting darkness over my life for years.

And I am sick of it.

You think you control me and quite honestly most of the time you use to.

Unfortunately for you that is all about to change.

You no longer control me.

I am my own person.

I will speak out and let my voice be heard.

I will go get coffee by myself.

I will step out of the shadows.

I will join the crowd.

Yes, I am aware of your presence in the background.

I will not give in to you whispering, “go home everyone is laughing at you”.

I will turn the other way every time you say nasty things to me.

Why? You’re most likely wondering.

Because while you thought you had me controlled I was growing stronger, becoming braver.

And now I am even stronger than you.

So, next time you think about telling me I do not matter, hold your tongue because I promise you, you don’t want to pick a fight with me anymore.

Sincerely,

The girl you no longer control
