Dear Anxiety

Dear anxiety,

Why do you do me this way

Why do you hunt me like prey

You stalk me waiting to pounce

I'm afraid of the presence you're waiting to announce

You eat away, nawing at any of my impurities

I overcompensate emotions trying to mask my insecurities

You're a fearsome beast silent in what you're after

But we both know your meal is satisfied by society's laughter

You sit there watching with a meloncholic grin

As I plot to commit me greatest sin

I will lay waste to you, the monster of my sleepless nights

Tonight I will sleep and you will be nowhere in sight

I will awaken tomorrow morning fully rejuvenated

Because I my friend will be liberated

I will no longer be my own worst enemy

You will no longer have control of me

All traces of you will be gone

Because I vow not to worry from this point on!
