Dear Anxiety

You are a constant tug in my life

Pulling me everywhere,

Yet nowhere.

You are a storm screaming inside me

Thrashing

Throwing me around like debris in a hurricane.

You are a cattle prod forcing me through the chute.

Stop.

You’re hurting me.

You are a wooden spoon hitting harder

and harder

with every breath I take.

What have I done to deserve your wrath.

You are the coals beneath my feet

And the world on my shoulders.

Stand up straight

Pipe down

Be a lady

Don’t be a little bitch

You are the unrelenting hail,

chipping me down

You are the dooms day clock

always ticking.

Tik

Tok

Tik

Tok

You are the reason I cant sleep

Can’t talk

Can’t stop

You are all in my head

Always in my head

You are me

I am you

You know what they say

It takes two.

Forever yours,

Maddie
