Dear Barbra
Oh Barbara,
The day the gods made their decision
The cracks of lightning
Were replaced
by the ringing of our own cracked bell
The mothers jumped towards the sun
That finally shone down
On this dark time
The sons kissed the ground
That they were born on
Where they finally belonged
Oh Barbara,
Because of you
Many sing a song of joy
Instead of sorrow
While they release a sigh
That they held
Knowing they can now breathe
Friends
No longer counted embraces
As if each might be the last
Families
No longer spend hours awake
Fearing their own blood had been taken
Fearing they could get taken at a moment's notice
Until they walk through the door.
Millions can now wave the flag
Of their country
Where they finally belong
Where their presence
Is no longer debated
Oh Barbara,
Thank you Barbara.
