Dear Best Friend,

I hope you are enjoying

New Zealand.

I still do not understand

why you felt the need

to abandon me

and study abroad

our senior year.

Well,

I know why actually.

I know you well enough

to know it is something

you have dreamed of doing.

You left me alone

knowing full well I only had

you.

Senior year.

I do not know about you

but I had plans for us.

We were going to

do all the spirit week activities together,

apply to college together,

scholarship hunt together,

ride every ride in Disney on senior trip,

shop for prom dresses together,

walk at graduation together.

Instead,

you left me.

I do not go out.

No one replies to my texts.

No one listens to my political rants.

I am mad at you

for leaving.

But,

what kind of

best friend

does that make me?

I want you to be happy.

But at the expense

of my happiness?

You threw away

our last year together.

Best friend,

I am trying to

forgive you

but

it is hard.

Sometimes,

I hate you for leaving me.

I am

alone,

sad

because of you.

But,

at the end of the day,

I miss you.

Come home soon,

Your Best Friend
