Dear Best Friend
Dear Best friend,
I fell in love with you because of you,
I like your quirky ways.
You know how many times I got myself
Thinking of your smile?
How weird is that?
But, I’ve tried really hard to make this work,
But maybe it isn’t.
I don’t know what to do,
I’m drowning in my thoughts,
But I’m tired of waiting for you to fish me out.
I didn’t want to love you,
Because you would get more love than you deserved.
I didn’t want to love you,
Because you would hurt me more than I deserved.
But you slipped under my skin,
And invaded my heart.
So many people fall in love with the wrong people,
All because they said all the right things.
You were the wrong person for me,
Who said all the right things.
That’s why you don’t want to fall in love
With your best friend, they know you inside and out.
Darkness cannot be driven out by darkness,
Only light can drive darkness out.
You and I together are darkness,
That’s why it didn’t work.
I have to go find my light.
But here’s the thing,
No matter how much you had hurt me,
No matter how much pain you caused me,
You’ll always have a place in my heart.
