Dear Black Girl

Dear Black Girl

You are not alone

Don't believe the rumors girls because they all just do it for humor girl

Take pride in your skin, beautiful black girl

Don't let them strip you of your confidence

Hold your head up high when you talk

Let them see your nose

Let them see your smile

Let them see the twinkle in your eyes

Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise

Take pride in your course hair

And your melanin skin

For your skin is divine

Who cares what society thinks

Politics are in the pockets that can afford them

They think our black girls are loud and ghetto

Yet never view our sisters with degrees

Or our brothers who are father to their children or kings to their queens

Never view the women who are out here raising young kings and queens

Teaching them right from wrong

Well I am here to give you around of applause

And to let you know you are appreciated
