Dear Black Man

I
Am a
Black Woman
That means
When I love your
Soul is crushed by the weight of
Ten Thousand Suns
My wrath is as dangerous as
A tide when
Two Full Moons
Rest on the sands

I
Am a
Black Woman
That means
I don't have the long hair of the
White and Latina Women you like
But
My Melanin runs deep like the Woman who gave you Life
My Afro has been watered by the Tears
Of our Unnamed Ancestors
My Skin knows of your Struggle
My Tears run down My Face when
Your life is taken away by a White Man
Who will never face justice

I
Am a
Black Woman
That means
No matter what You do
I will always
Fight for
You
Be for
You
Protect
You
Are the Future Father Of my Son
You Need to guide him so this Black Legacy continues on
Teach Him that his Struggle
is Beautiful
His Black is Strong
His Voice is the Melody of an
Unheard Song

I
Am a
Black Woman
I hear your cries for help
Your Songs of Sorrow
Sounds of a Nocturne played in a Minor Key
I Pray for You
Every night
I Pray for You
Every night
I Pray for
You will no longer
Be seen as a threat
You will no longer
Have to fear the Judicial system
You will no longer
Hear the names of Sons, Grandsons
Nephews, Uncles
Who were  unrightfully murdered
By the hands of criminals
Who will never be punished
